Governors Bay Preschool

Governors Bay School
Governors Bay School is a four classroom school of about 90 pupils located in attractive surroundings catering for students from Years 0 to 8. The school roll is drawn from the surrounding community; children come to school with high expectations of learning and achievement. The school has an active and supportive P.T.A. who organise regular social and fundraising events. The school is well resourced and has a modern library which not only accommodates classes during library times it also acts as an assembly hall and a theatre for the school’s performing arts programme and end of year junior school concerts. Popular features of the play area are a well used adventure playground and rugby field.

Cholmondeley Home
Cholmondeley and Cholmondeley school provide respite care and supportive schooling for children of Christchurch and Canterbury requiring a break from the stresses of their varying situations when the need arises. Operations are largely community-funded with some contracted Government services. Up to 28 children, aged 4 to 12, are resident at any time, with two beds reserved for "emergency" admissions. The Cholmondeley School was established in 1958 and is supported by the Home while funded by the Ministry of Education. Cholmondeley also provides a comprehensive
